-6y = 16x + 3
Isolate the y by dividing both sides by -6:
y = f(x) = -8x/3 - 1/2
To find f(-5), just plug in -5 for x and solve

-6y = 16x + 3
Isolate the y by dividing both sides by -6:
y = f(x) = -8x/3 - 1/2
To find f(-5), just plug in -5 for x and solve
The first thing that needs to be done is to divide both sides of the equation by - 6:
-6y = 16x + 3
---- ----- ----
-6 -6 -6
This gives us:
y = (-8/3)x - 1/2
Now all we do is plug in x = - 5 and simplify:
y = (-8/3)(-5) -1/2
= 40/3 - 1/2
= 80/6 - 3/6 [we got both fractions into a common denominator]
= 77/6
So our answer is 77/6
