The ratio pf oranges to fruits at the start of question can be written as 12 oranges to 30 total fruits (or as a fraction 12 oranges / 30 total fruits). Then you can find an equivalent ratio x oranges for 100 total fruits:
12/30 = x / 100
12/30 in simplest form is 2/5 , so:
2/5 = x/100
Since 5 times 20 is 100, 2 times 20 will be 40 oranges for 100 total fruits.
