Just remove the discount and divide the full price by 2.
Remember that 100% = 1 so any percentage can be converted to a decimal by dividing by 100.
The price you are given is 100% of the two pairs of glasses minus 15% meaning you pay 100 - 15 or 85%.
Find the price without a discount by simply dividing the amount paid by .85, then divide by 2 for the price of each pair of sunglasses:
$30.60 price after discount (85% actual cost)
$30.60 / .85 = $36.00 price before discount
$36.00 / 2 = $18.00 price per pair of sunglasses

Why divide .85.? I realize it’s to make the discount whole, but why divide rather than any other function08/13/20
