Movies Inequality Algebra Questions

#3. You can spend at most $75 at the movies, the cost per person is $9.75.

*This is a two part question and I got A right. I didn’t get B right but I’ll include A for context so B makes more sense.

a. Should you choose an equation or any quality to represent the situation? Explain your choice.

My answer: I have selected to use an any quality. If there was more to the problem like if he/she wanted to buy snacks, I would add it to the left side and give that a variable. He/she doesn’t have to spend all their money. You could also graph it if you choose.

Part A was marked correct, now to part B where I lost points.

b. Right and solve an equation or an inequality that represents the situation.

My answer: 9.75x ≤ 75

because these are the only two values given, I must only use those two “X”, which represents the amount of people going. The more people that go, the less money the person will have.

My teacher circled the “solve” for where the question was because I think she wanted me to solve it. How would I solve the equation? I can’t exactly recall but I believe this is where I may have gotten stuck.
