For this equation, first evaluate the numerical expression-2 + 6:
6m + 4 (-2 + 6) = 10
Since -2 + 6 is equivalent to 4, we can write:
6m + 4(4) = 10
Then multiply 4 * 4 :
6m + 16 = 10
To solve, subtract 16 from both sides of the equation and then divide by 6:
6m + 16 -16 = 10 - 416
6m = -6
6m/6 = -6/6
m= -1
To verify , substitute this solution in the original equation and see of your solution is valid:
6 * (-1) + 4(-2 + 6) = 6 * (-1) + 4(4) = -6 + 16 OR 10 so your solution of m = -1 is correct.
