Find the equation of the line that contains the point 4,-2  and is perpendicular to the line y=-2x+5

Its slope must be the negative reciprocal of the slope of the given line (perpendicular lines), so

m = -1/(-2) = 1/2

y = x/2 + b

-2 = 4/2 + b

b = -4

y = x/2 - 4
