In the absence of a picture I will assume that 9 is the length of the bases and 7 the length of the other two sides.
The area of a parallelogram is simply the product of the base times the height so:
Area = xh = 9•6 = 54.
y has nothing to do with it! Now if you knew the measure of one of the interior angles and y THEN you could use x and y to solve the problem. But that is another question....
