We can let w represent the width of the rectangle. If this is the case, then the length can be represented by 4w.
Since area is equal to length times width for a rectangle, we can write that:
1600 = length times width
1600 = 4w * w
This is equivalent to :
1600 = 4 w ^2
If you solve for w by dividing both sides of the equation by 4:
1600/4 = 4w^2/4
400=w^2
w= 20 m
(because 20 times 20 is 400)
Then the length is 4w or 4*20 or 80 m
The perimeter is 2 times the length plus 2 times the width OR:
Perimeter = 2*80 + 2*20
Perimeter = 160 + 40
