We;ll call the number "X". So we know that X plus X/2 (i.e., half of X) equals 30. So your equation is:
X+ X/2= 30. To simplify, multiply both sides by 2 to get rid of the divisor. So you end up with
2x+ x= 60, or 3X=60.
So, divide both sides by 3, and x is 20. 20 + 10 = 30.
