Start by "moving" the g terms to one side of the equation by subtracting 2.3g from both sodes of the equation:
5.3g - 2.3g + 9 = 2.3g + 15 - 2.3g
Then:
3g + 9 = 15
Subtract 9 from both sides of the equation:
3g + 9 - 9 = 15 -9
3g = 6
Divide both sides of the equation by 3:
3g/3 = 6/3
AND g = 2
You can verify this solution by substituting 2 for g:
5.3 *2 + 9 = 2.3 * 2 + 15
10.6 + 9 = 4.6 + 15
19.6 = 19.6
