I used to know the answer but forgot exactly how to do it.. Oh I'm talking about kitchen knives...like the ones you cook with.

Your mom found 3 out of 12 knives. In math, that is the fraction 3 / 12 . That means you have the remaining 9, or the fraction 9 / 12.

Fractions should always be reduced if possible. 9 / 12 can be reduced because both numbers are evenly divisible by 3. So 9 / 12 is the same as 3 / 4. You have 3/4 of the knives.
