Computers and Web Design are stimulating; let's explore!
Hhello Deja!
Ffirst you need to get the 2/3X to a side by itself, so you need to remove the +4 from the left side of equation. Cancel the four out by subtracting 4 from both sides. The -4 on the left side will cancel out the +4. And when you put -4 on the right side to equal it out (whatever you do on one side on of equation has to be done to the other as it is an equation and there is an = sign)...so the -4 on right side makes it a total of -10.
So now you're left with 2/3X=-10
Now we need to cancel more out to get the X = something in order to solve for X, right? 2 over 3 and with fractions, remember, you can cancel out the 2/3 by multiplying that fraction by 3 over 1. The 3's cancel each other out but you also have to multiply the right side by 3 over 1 too. Again, whatever you do to one side has to be done to the other side of equation. So -10 times 3 over 1 is -30.
So you're left with 2X= -30
We need to cancel the 2 out from left side. So divide the left side by 2 to get X by itself of left side of equation. The 2's will cancel each other out from left side, but remember to divide the right side by 2 as well. So -30 becomes -15.
I come to the conclusion that X= -15
I hope this helps! It's been a while for me....double check your work Deja and you can always plug your answer you come up with back into the equation where X is and start doing the match to make sure everything balances out.
Good luck!
