If the length is three times the width, let us sa
y that the width of the rectangle is X. That means the length would be 3X. The perimeter is found by adding all the sides together. For a rectangle, that means the perimeter (240)=2 ( x+3x).=2*4x=8x. To find x, divide both sides of the equation by 8.
This gives you x=240/8=30. The length is 3x, so 3*30=90.
