In the "math language" you can write this like: 17 < 1/3x then you can do algebra on this expression by multiplying both sides by 3. 17 • 3 = 51 and 1/3 • 3 = 1 so 51 < 1x or 51 < x. another way to write 51 < x is x > 51
Either of these is OK but I prefer x > 51
