To find your answer, we need to understand the ratio of green to blue paint, and how to scale that amount to a total.
In this case, we are told that for every 3 oz. of Green paint, we need 5 oz. of Blue paint. ( ratio = 3:5), for a total of 8 oz.
If we want to make 40 oz. of paint total, first divide the required amount by the base amount (40/8 =5).
This will give us the factor that we can multiply our parts by to see how much of each color to mix.
In this case, we just need to multiply the amount of blue paint needed in the ratio by the factor. So:
5oz. Blue* 5= 25 oz of Blue paint is required.
