No matter what kind of triangle she uses, if the base b = 4 inches and the height is h:
A=(1/2)(4)h=2h
The height does not have to be the length of a side, but it has to be perpendicular to the base. If the area A≥16 sqin then 2h≥16 and h≥8 inches.
That was not much of an algebra problem.
Maybe the problem statement needs work?
