True, and then the sun never set on the British empire. ( Britain had plundered Spain and its New World holdings, mostly through Sir Francis Drake, and went on an exploring and colonizing spree from there, discovering Australia, New Zealand, plus African and Asian lands, such as India, so that they owned the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian oceans, not to mention the North American colonies of Canada, losing only one war in the American Revolution having hired Hessian mercenaries, who made up a large portion of their troops there.
