Ideally, you would want to eliminate fractions.
In this case, get a common denominator which will help.
(3/8)d+(3/4)= (3/8)d+6/8
Now, with common denominators, it is easier to see what's in common! You could take a (3/8) out of each (divide out 3/8).
(3/8)(1d+2)
The coefficient you factored out is (3/8).
