Consecutive odd integers are two integers apart. So
let the first integer = x
the second consecutive odd integer = x + 2
the third consecutive odd integer = x + 4
"Sum" means addition.
"the sum of the first and the third" x + (x + 4)
"the sum of the second and 31" (x + 2) + 31
x + (x + 4) = (x + 2) + 31
2x + 4 = x + 33
x = 29
x + 2 = 29 + 2 = 31
x + 4 = 29 + 4= 33
The integers are 29, 31, 33
For other problems.....This same method can be used for consecutive even integers too.
