If y varies directly with x ....y = k x, where k is a constant of variation. To find y when x=2 forthis direct variation relationship we need to find the constant o variation, k.
So using given example y=12 and x = 15...
12 = k (15)
12/15 = k
k= 4/5
So the direct variation equation
y = 4/5 x can now be used to find y when x = 2
y = 4/5 (2)
y= 8/5
