0.6 + 15b + 4 = 25.6
So, the 0.6 is the weight (in pounds) of the empty box.
15b represents 15 times the weight of each bag of beans (represented by b).
4 represents the 4 pound bag of rice.
25.6 represents to total weight of all of the items including the box.
So, to find the value of b (the weight of one bag of beans), you must solve for b.
0.6 + 15b + 4 + 25.6
15b = 25.6 - 0.6 - 4 = 21
15b = 21
b = 21/15 = 7/5 pounds or 1 2/5 pounds or 1.4 pounds.
Therefore, the weight of one bag of beans is 1.4 pounds
