There are very few modern organizations doing anything other than a fusion of Agile, Pair and XP programming. Any interview I go on in the last 15 years has asked where my skillset has been with respect to Agile.
Granted everyone has their own definitions of what Agile is and how to leverage the philosophy, but even still, it's a paradigm worth understanding.
In short, yes, it's a very important skill to be familiar with if you're hoping to find work as a software engineer.
