Hi Maddie,
So the formula for Area of a Rectangle is LENGTH x WIDTH, right? Let's substitute in to see what we have: A=l x w
72=9 x w so to solve this, divide by 9 to both sides.
72/9 = 9w/9 and this gives you
8 = w So the width must be 8 feet. Don't forget the units because most teachers will mark you off.
