y - 9 = -(x + 2)
Remember that there is an invisible 1 in front of the parentheses...
y - 9 = -1(x + 2)
y - 9 = - x - 2
x + y = 7

Add 9 to both sides of the equation to eliminate it on the y side
y - 9 + 9 = -(x+2) + 9
So y = -(x + 2) + 9
Now resolve the other side of the equation"
y = -x -2 + 9 = -x +7, So y = -x +7 is the answer

WHICH standard form??
There is the "slope-intercept" form: y = mx + b
To get into that format:
y - 9 = -(x + 2)
Expand the right hand term:
y - 9 = -x - 2
Add 9 to both sides:
y = -x + 7
