There is a total of 32 students. Each student will receive 5ft 8in a piece. What is the total length that the coach needs to order.

What must I do to figure this out. I have multiplied but some how I am coming out short.

Daniel, what are you multiplying?

 

You can split the 5 feet and the 8 inches. 5 x 32 = 160 ft.  8 x 32 = 256 in.

 

256 in/12 = 21 ft 4 in. Add that to the 160 ft and your total is 181 ft 4 inches, or 181 1/3 ft.
