PQ represents a line segment in the x,y plane and the complete line can be expressed as y=3x+14


QR represents another line segment in the x,y plane and the complete line can be expressed as y= 7x-10


Since the two lines intersect at point Q(x,y) the x & y values of both lines must be equal at point Q. Thus, 3x+14=7x-10. Solving for x yields x = 6.
