If I have a problem that is y = x - 1 how do I write out it reflected on the x-axis

Reflecting on the x-axis...

Replace y with -y

-y = x - 1

y = -x + 1

Now plug some values into both the original and the reflection and watch what happens:

Say for example x = -2, -1, 0 , 1 , 2

X y = x-1 y = -x + 1

-2 -3 3

-1 -2 2

0 -1 1

1 0 0

2 1 -1

Yes, it works... the Y's are OPPOSITE signs
