There are 2 ways of solving this type of question :
- Using the midpoint formula where midpoint for x M(x) = (x1 + x2)/2 and Midpoint for y = (y1+y2)/2
we know that for x , the midpoint is 2 and for y the midpoint is -5 and we also have one endpoint (12, -5). Let's substitute within the formula for midpoint of x ....
2=(12+x2)/ 2
4 = (12+x2) ( multiplied both sides by 2 to get rid of the bottom fraction from right side )
4-12 =x2
-8 = x2
and for midpoint of y -5=(-5+y2)/2
-10 = -5 +y2
-10+5= y2
-5 =y2
so the other endpoint is at (-8, -5)
2 . Graph the coordinates point and based on the slope you can start from midpoint and find the second endpoint .
