First, assign variables. Let's use "E" for Emma's weight, and "G" for Gavin's weight.
Writing equations, we can then say:
E = 38
G = 38 - x
Note that these are equations, which are more that just expressions. (An expression is some combination of constants and variable used to describe a relationship.....x + 3 is an expression, and x + 3 = 8 is an equation)
