Spanish-American war from Spain's perspective?

From what I saw in movies, during many battles throughout the 1700s to early 1800s involving the French or British armies, rows of troops from both sides would fire volleys of bullets into each other and many soldiers would get hit and fall, but the rest of the soldiers would hold their ground or advance without flinching, and I was wondering how were these soldiers trained to be so disciplined and why would anyone sign up for war, as they would likely die.

The war from Spain's perspective was that they never attacked the Maine. It was an unjust war on their country and it is factually known that yellow journalism was the main force in causing the war to happen. Yellow journalism was where a story in the media was written to set an agenda and cause the U.S. to want war with Spain for their own purposes. It was proven the Maine blew up by accident and was not an attack from Spain but yellow journalism created a lie to have war.
