How many (x) cm = 40 m ? And we know 1 cm = 10 m for scale.

We can divide one equality by the other,

x cm = 40 m

1 cm = 10 m

x cm / 1 cm = 40 m / 10 m

x/1 = 40/10

x = 4, answer 4 cm
