In this type of word problem basically they provide you the length and width of outer rectangle and the distance in between the inside and the outside walkway. To solve the problem you just need to subtract the walkway from each side and find out the sides of inside rectangle. Use the ' length*width' formula to get the area of rectangle. Best Wishes.
