So, if the number of students(s) is decreased by 6, the remainder is equal to twice the number of boys(b) in the class.
Let's write that as an equation:
s - 6 = 2(b)
So, if the number of students is 44, then:
44 - 6 = 2(b)
38 = 2b
19 = b
So there are 19 boys in the class. If you subtract that from the total number of students (44) , then
44 - 19 = 25 girls
There are 25 girls in the class.
