The total surface area of a cone is SA = πrl + πr2. Since you only need the curved surface, eliminate the πr2, which is the base.
Curved Surface Area: CSA = πrl Find the lateral height by using the formula 32 + 42 = l2
9 + 16 = l2 25 = l2 l = 5 cm
CSA = π(3)(5)
CSA = 15π ≈ 47.1239 cm2
