Consider what interests and background the audience will bring with them. How can you best arrange your presentation so that it meets their expectations and experience.
How many people do you project will attend?
Depending on the number of people that attend you may want to adjust the tone you use and even your physical closeness to or distance from them. Consider which areas of your presentation you want to present more personally or less personally. Physical presence and distance are a significant part of a presentation.
How much time do you have for the presentation?
Don’t squeeze too much into the time you have. Allow time to discuss the areas you focus on as fully as possible.
What focus do you think the audience would most value?
Think about what especial positions or areas most of the audience would want you to elaborate and present most fully.
What kind of changes should you be prepared to make if the actual environment differs from what you anticipated?
Stay flexible so that you can quickly adapt to the aspects of the presentation such as audience, time, nature of the presentation space.
How much time do you want to allot to questions or comments during or following the time you speak?
What is the comfort level of speaking time you desire? Decide that so that you know what amount of time you will allow for audience participation.
