I think you got the functions typed wrong. It makes more sense if

L = 1.25M +17.30

Then the difference in charges (C) would be

Distribute the negative

C = 1.25M + 17.30 - .60M - 12.95

Combine like terms

C = 1.25M - .60M + 17.30 - 12.95
