I sounds as if the problem gives you a list of expressions to choose from. Since you did not provide the list to us, here's how you do it: subtract the smaller number (-5) from the larger number (3), 3 - (-5) which is the same as 3 + 5 which is equal to 8. I'm sure it's on the list.

The distance between -5 and 3 is 8 as you can just count on the number line. Starting at -5, count each tick until you get to 3 - there are 8 ticks. Which expression gives an answer of 8?07/03/19
