The result you get will depend on what 1.6 is. If you mean 1.6%, a factor or 1.6, or $1.60 there could be a number of different answers.
Assuming the cost is increasing by a factor of 1.6, we just need to multiply the previous cost ($1.20) by 1.6 which gives us a new cost of $1.92
If the increase is 1.6% then we would multiple $1.20 by 1.016, that is the original cost (1) and the additional 1.6% (0.016) to give us a new price of $1.22. The math works out to 1.2192, but we round up because it is dealing with money.
Finally, if the cost is increasing by $1.60 we just need to add $1.60 to the original $1.20 to get $2.80

The new price would be $1.20 x 1.6 = $1.92
