Hello Nyarai We have two equations and we are going to use the substitution method.
y= 2x +1 x+ 3y =10 (Lets use the second equation first).
x + 3(2x+1)=10.
x + 6x +3 =10. (Add the X's).
7x +3 =10.
-3 -3.
______________
7x 7.
____ ____.
7 7.
X=1.
y=2x +1 (Put 1 in for X).
y= (2(1) +1.
y= 2 +1 .
y=3.
Check: x +3y =10.
1 + 3(3) =10
1 + 9 =10
10=10
Hope this helps.
