Add a hyperlink within Illustrator?

Is it possible to add a hyperlink to an object or a layer within Illustrator CS6 for a later SVG export?I know about the possibility to manually edit the exported file and wrap elements with an `<a>` tag. But this complicates subsequent changes. It would be better to have solution that is integrated in Illustrator.

You can create hyperlinks from text in Adobe Illustrator, a vector graphics program, by creating a slice with the program's Make Slice feature. Then you use the Slice Options dialog box to assign the URL to the slice. ... Click the location on the page where you want to create a text hyperlink.
