How to make a font with Adobe Illustrator?

I have recently created my own font/typeface with Adobe Illustrator, and I would like to use it as a real font (e.g I would like to use it as I type something). Is this possible in Adobe Illustrator or would I need a different software? If so what program would be good for creating a font?

It is certainly possible. Since you already have Illustrator you're more than halfway there. What you need to do next is download something like Fontself. Fontself is an add-on for illustrator that allows you to click and drag objects to create a useable font. Fontself is not free, but the price is not prohibitive. You usually get what you pay for with software add-ons. There are tutorials on Youtube creating fonts with illustrator and Fontself.
