In layers panel, how do I show only layers belonging to the current artboard?
In Illustrator, I have 12 artboards and dozens of layers, and they are all mixing up.In layers panel, how do I show only layers belonging to the current artboard?Do I need to assign layers to artboards first?
Hi! This route will ensure that all your objects from various layers go to one layer for each artboard. This is a good place to start in making sense of the layers snarl you describe. (If you need to further assign objects to sub layers, the same sequence can be followed.)
Make sure all layers are unlocked.
Start with your 1st artboard. Select all objects and cut (ctrl+x, - windows).
Create and label a new layer for your 1st artboard.
Paste in place (shift+ctrl+v). All objects mixed up in other layers will now live in your new layer on 1st artboard!
Move on to your 2nd artboard and repeat.
Repeat will all artboards until they each have their own new layer.
Delete all the old layers (which should now be empty).
