Are there times where "wanna" sounds weird in everyday speech?

To illustrate:\n\n> She wants to try the new ice cream. \n>\n> She wanna try the new ice cream. \n\nAre both equally common in everyday speech? What's an example where "wanna" would sound weird or out of place? (Still, in informal speech.)\n\n\n
