Carol has a part time job mowing lawns

 if it takes carol 1.25 hours to mow a 50,000 square foot lawn, how long will it take her to mow a lawn that is 300 feet wide and 200 feet long

The area of the other lawn is (300)(200) = 60000 ft²

Let x = length of time it takes to mow the 60000 ft² lawn

 

Set up the proportion:  1.25/50000 = x/60000

 

Cross multiplying, we get 50000x = 75000

                                                x = 1.5 hours
