114 rivets / 10 grams

in proportion to

??? rivets / 1050 grams

cross multiplies:

114 * 1050 = ? * 10

DIvides both sides by 10 so as to solve for the missing:

114 * 1050 / 10 = ?

114 * 105 = ?

? = 11970

asked • 05/29/19I initially figured this as 10/114=0.088g per rivet. Meaning 1050g/0.88g=11,931.818181... rivets in the bag.

But now I'm second guessing myself. I truncated the weight per rivet to 0.088g/rivet. It actually is 0.087719298245614g/rivet.

Are both answers correct, permitting I'm allowed to truncate to the 3rd decimal place?
