Whenever I see questions like this I like to set up an equation.

 

We have $25 dollars.

 

But it costs $4 dollars for each game.

 

The question is asking, "What is the greatest number of games" IMO questions use a lot of fancy talk for no reason. It is basically asking "How many games can we play?"

 

so if we know it is $4 for each game and we got $25 we can say:

 

25=4x Where x equals the number of games played.

25/4=x=>6.25. We cannot play 6.25 games (lol) so just 6.

It does not state how much the bowling costs per game, only the shoe rental. I have gone to a bowling alley many times and they charge for the shoes a flat rate for the time you are bowling. not per game. Then, there is a charge per game as well. For example, Suppose they charge $3 per game of bowling and $2 to rent shoes. Then If you only bowl one game it would cost $5, but you could bowl 2 games for $8, 3 games for $11, etc.

 

As I read this problem, I am led to believe it costs $4 er game to rent shoes, but no cost for the bowling. I would be shocked to discover a bowling establishment that would offer this since some bowlers own their own shoes, and could bowl all they want for free.

 

However, the answer to this problem as I interpret it, is 25/4 or 6 games of bowling. This bowler would then have $1 remaining for the next time.
