This is also a lesson in the commutative property. That is, when multiplying, we can group factors any way we want, as long as we include them all. Order doesn't matter. 

 

so, we can regroup the problem above into: 

 9 X 7 =  63

-7 x 2 = -14

 9 x 9 =  81

 

63 x 14 x 81 = -71,442

 

Try it yourself; how about if we group 9 x 2 and -7 x 7 and 9 x 9 ?

This is an order of operations problem.  Since there are no + or - to worry about (you do those last), this problem is actually quite easy since you just get rid of the parenthesis and just multiply everything straight across.

 

9 x 7 x -7 x 9 x 2 x 9 = -71442
