A property casualty license is needed to sell property/casualty insurance in all fifty states and a state examination is required to obtain the license. By passing the state examination, you gain a basic level of knowledge about what you need to know and what will be required of you as a licensed insurance agent. Many agents who decide to make a career selling insurance build on that basic level knowledge by taking insurance courses and earning professional insurance designations throughout their lives. Continuing insurance education is a prerequisite for being able to stand out against your competitors. The competition in insurance sales is fierce!
