3-5x _> 2x + 7

I need to somehow graph x on a number line. This is confusing because the numbers dont divide well into eachother

First you need to add 5x to the other side to get 7x and then subtract 7 from 3 to get -4. You then divide -4 by 7 to get -0.57, to plot the number on a number line you just put the dot between zero and negative one.

3 - 5x ≥ 2x + 7

3 ≥ 7x + 7

-4 ≥ 7x

-4/7 ≥ x

 

A number line is different that a ruler that has the numbers placed for you. To graph this make a number line (no numbers yet). Place 0. Then mark -4/7 anywhere to the left of 0. Make a solid dot (x can be equal) and then doddle the line to the left of the dot (x is less than this).
