No need to be rude.  We're here to help you (for FREE, I might add), but we don't know your age or the math you're taking, and we cannot read minds.  I gave the only answer possible given the information you provided.  If there is more information in the problem, please provide it and perhaps someone will answer it.

Well, I’m almost 10*7, so I’ll try.

On the number line, 61 lies between any numbers x (such that x <61) and y (such that y>61).
You could write that as x<61<y   (x<61 and y>61).  Pick your two numbers.

Phillip sought clarification, and I will too, is there more information that we need to know about this problem?  (note: in government security topics, you must both have sufficient clearance and the need to know)

Just wanted to chime in. Philip is right---he gave you the best possible answer based on the question you asked. Both 60 and 62 are rational numbers, so he gave you two rational numbers that 61 is between. If there's nothing you can add to the question to specify what kind of rational numbers you're looking for, then those two numbers are as good as any other pair you pick. Better, in fact, since a question like yours is almost always asking for the closest whole number on either side.

Also, as it's formulated now, this question has nothing to do with the Pythagorean Theorem, which you use when working with right triangles. Perhaps you could specify where right triangles come in?

it is rational numbers and the answer couldn't be 60 and 62. it is a rational equation I don't have any other description to give you. the multiple choice questions are (A) 7.7 and 7.8 (B) 7.8 and 7.9 (C)7.9  and  8.0 (D) 8.0 and 8.1. I'm just trying to get a good grade I'm not that good in math and I might have to go to summer school and this is the last test to take to depend on whether or not I go and I am really not having a good year with pre algebra and its really frustrating so thank you for all the help your trying to give me
